Rishikesh is a holy city located in the foothills of the Himalayas in the North Indian state of Uttarakhand. Rishikesh literally means "Sage Hair". Rishikesh is the starting point for Char Dham Yatra which includes Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Rishikesh is ofter claimed as ‘The Yoga capital of the World', has numerous yoga centres that also attract tourists. The sacred river Ganga flows through Rishikesh. White water rafting in Rishikesh is world famous. There are good number of white sandy beaches along the banks of the river Ganga. Rafing camps are setup from September to June on these beaches. Places to see in and around Rishikesh include Laxmanjhula, Ramjhula, Vasishta Goofa, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, Rishikund, etc.
