This city is famous for the Gwalior Fort. The invincible sandstone fortress dominates the city. With magnificent outer walls and beautiful palaces inside. Inside is a 15th century Gujari Mahal an epitome of love of Raja Mansingh Tomar for his queen, Mrignayani, the inside of this mahal is converted into an archaeological Museum housing rare antiquities. There is also the Man Mandir Palace, where deep inside one can see the circular dungeons, which once held the prisoners of the Mughals. The Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb is said to have imprisoned and later executed his brother, Murad here.

Gwalior has extreme climatic conditions, scorching summer and chilly winter. Summer (March to June) temperature rises to 47°C and has a minimum of 16°C. Monsoon rainy season during July to October is humid and temperature within 25°C to 32°C. Winter (December to February) is chilly and can drop down to subzero. Day time in winter can have temperature up to 27°C.
