Queen of the Arabian Sea, seat of rich history and violent battles, this is Cochin, now Kochi. Fondly called spice city, the beauty of Kochi beckons people from far and wide. Kochi at some point of time was supposedly notorious for its vivacious cabarets. Today it has sobered down and is not so anymore. It has been an important trading port since ancient times. Being a major harbor from the times of the British and Portuguese, Kochi has a rich heritage of forts, churches and temples. European influence and heritage stares in the face and you will notice plenty of Chinese fishing nets here. These are originally made of teak and bamboo with lights to attract fish as they are lowered into water.
